Some time has passed since my last custom piece and I didn't realize just how much I needed it! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love making the collection pieces, but every once in awhile, it's creatively healthy for me as a maker to be able to step back out of the box and experiment.
Named after it's now owner, John Carrington (Lead Filmmaker at NewSpring Church), this mens leather messenger bag instantly became a bar-raiser for me. John was looking for a heavy duty bag to carry his work and travel essentials but that also fit his ruggedly dapper aesthetic.
After a trip to Horween, we agreed that the vintage brown Latigo would be the perfect leather for his bag. But in realizing that this would have to endure constant travel and heavier-than-usual contents, I ordered new tools and expanded my leather working skills; completely raising the bar for CHC products to follow.
The first cuts of this beautiful leather weren't easy (nerve-wrecking to be exact) but the excitement of seeing it come together left me in a final moment of some really happy tears.
There are even some talks of this becoming a first for a CHC men's line..... ;-)
Either way, The Carrington was certainly a piece I am grateful to have had the opportunity to construct (Thanks, John!) and I could not be more pleased with the final result!
Congrats on the accomplishment! This bag is remarkable, and I would love to see a CHC men’s line.

"To keep going, is to believe that there is always an invitation, is a truly creative act... There's sort of a healthy defiance involved. A hoping against hope. God continues to use creation, creativity, and the arts to point to and unlock hope, mystery, beauty, and love. An open invitation for us all."
I’ve made the hard decision to close CHC.
My vision to awaken the beauty in people through creating beautiful products and experiences remains in tact; CHC is simply no longer the vehicle to my vision. My depth of gratitude for your support (every step of the way) is inexpressible.
